Cookie policy
The cookies and storage used by etkivent.io, their purpose, their duration, and how to manage your choice.
Last updated: October 25, 2026
1. What this is about
A cookie is a small file the site places in your browser; local storage (localStorage) is a similar space, read only by the site that wrote it. Etkivent uses them to keep you signed in, remember your preferences and record your cookie choice. No advertising cookies are set, and no data is sold.
2. Strictly necessary cookies and storage
Set without consent, because the service cannot work without them.
better-auth.session_token (prefixed with __Secure- in production) — session cookie: keeps you signed in. Duration: 7 days, extended on each visit; removed on sign-out.
NEXT_LOCALE — language cookie: remembers the language you chose (French or English). Duration: the browser session.
theme — local storage: your light or dark theme choice. Duration: until you change it.
etkivent-consent — local storage: your cookie choice (version, date, categories). Duration: 6 months.
etkivent-sidebar-collapsed, etkivent-pwa-install-dismissed-at — local storage: sidebar state and app-install reminder, in the signed-in area. Duration: until you change them.
Sign-up drafts and etkivent-push-offer-at — local storage, while you complete the sign-up form (removed when it is submitted) and so that we do not ask you too often to enable notifications. Duration: until you change them.
etk_media_device — guest photo drop cookie: a random identifier, with no personal data, that limits the number of uploads per device and saves you from identifying yourself again. Set only if you upload photos to an event. Duration: 30 days.
etkivent-media-identity — photo drop local storage: the name and contact you entered, so you do not have to type them again on your next visit. They stay on your device, which only sends them when you identify yourself. Duration: until you clear the site data.
better-auth.state — social sign-in cookie: protects sign-in with a Google account during the round trip to Google. Duration: a few minutes.
cf_clearance — cookie from Cloudflare, our site host: set after the anti-abuse check that protects sign-in and the signed-in area, so that it is not shown to you again. Duration: 30 minutes.
3. Categories subject to your consent
Audience measurement: anonymized traffic statistics. No tool is active today; if we add one, it will only load after your consent.
Social media and third-party content: embedded content (videos, posts) that may set its own cookies. The only exception today is the YouTube or Vimeo video a vendor may embed on their page: it only loads if you click "Play the video", which counts as consent for that video only. Before that click, nothing is requested from the platform; afterwards, it receives your IP address and may set its cookies (YouTube in "privacy-enhanced" mode, Vimeo with its "do not track" option). The Instagram and TikTok links in the footer, like links to a vendor's networks, are plain links, with no third-party script.
Error tracking (Sentry) sets no cookie and does not track you across sites: when an error occurs, it receives the page concerned and your browser, relayed by our own servers: your IP address is not passed on to it. It is part of the service's security and is not subject to consent.
Maps (a vendor's page, an event's venue) load their tiles from MapTiler (Switzerland), which then receives your IP address and sets no cookie — required to display the map, only on pages that show one.
4. Managing your choice
The banner is shown on your first visit: "Accept all", "Refuse all" or "Customise" by category. Refusing degrades nothing: the service works fully with the necessary cookies alone.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time from the "Manage cookies" link in the footer. You can also delete cookies and local storage from your browser settings; you will then be signed out and the banner will return.
5. Duration and updates
Your choice is kept for 6 months, after which the banner is shown again, in line with CNIL recommendations. It is also shown again if the purposes change (for example, adding an audience measurement tool). The list above is kept up to date with every change to the service; the date at the top of the page is authoritative.
