Where do "Unverified" listings come from?

So you can find providers in your city right away, Etkivent's directory shows two kinds of listings:

  • verified providers, who created an Etkivent account and manage their own listing;
  • unverified listings, created automatically from public data.

An unverified listing is not managed by the business, which may not know it is listed. We never contact it.

Sources and licences

  • The INSEE SIRENE database, the official French business register, queried through the government's Recherche d'entreprises API: name or trading name, address and activity of active establishments. Open Licence 2.0 (Etalab).
  • OpenStreetMap, the collaborative map: name, location, phone, website and opening hours published by its contributors. © OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL licence (terms).
  • Photos: only from Wikimedia Commons, under a free licence (CC0, public domain, CC BY, CC BY-SA), always with their author and licence.

Nothing else: no website or social network is copied, and an establishment whose publication is restricted in SIRENE is never imported. Each listing shows its source and last update date.

What a listing contains

An unverified listing only contains business information that is already public: name, activity, town or address, phone and website when the source publishes them, and sometimes a freely licensed photo with its author. For a sole trader, only the town and postcode are shown. We never add an email address, reviews or prices.

These businesses are not Etkivent partners and do not receive requests through the platform. To reach them, use their phone number or website.

Purpose and legal basis

This data serves a single purpose: showing a directory of providers in each city, including those without an account yet.

We process it on the basis of our legitimate interest in offering a business directory (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Our assessment took into account that the data is public and professional, that we never contact these businesses, and that a listing can be removed at any time. We hold no email address for these businesses: this page provides the information required by Article 14 GDPR.

Retention

Listings are refreshed at least every six months, and removed when the business no longer appears in the source or has not been refreshed for twelve months.

After a removal on request, we only keep the listing's identifier (SIRET or OpenStreetMap ID) so that it does not come back. Of the request itself, only the reason is kept: the details and the optional reply email are deleted as soon as it is handled.

Is this your business?

  • Claim the listing: create your provider account (free) and take over your listing: photos, description, services. It then shows as "Verified".
  • Remove the listing: from the listing, follow the "Remove this listing" link, no account needed. The listing is hidden straight away, then permanently removed within 30 days at most: it will not come back with later updates.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase and object to this data. To object to your listing being published, the removal form is enough: no reason is required.
